Eleuthera was booming in the 70's. There was activity all over the island; BJ's near the airport was hoppin'. Cotton Bay Club, Club Med, Club Venta, were open, and there was a lot of diving in Cape Eleuthera. Garfield McCartney of Tarpum Bay, who died in 2004, was a leading divemaster on the island, and frequently entertained famous celebrities at Cape Eleuthera.
