Diving Pictures in Eleuthera in the 70s
with the late Garfield McCartney in Cape Eleuthera

Eleuthera was booming in the 70's. There was activity all over the island; BJ's near the airport was hoppin'. Cotton Bay Club, Club Med, Club Venta, were open, and there was a lot of diving in Cape Eleuthera. Garfield McCartney of Tarpum Bay, who died in 2004, was a leading divemaster on the island, and frequently entertained famous celebrities at Cape Eleuthera. The Cape is good for diving, since there is a big drop off, not far off shore. Thanks to Garfield wife, Sheila, of "Sheila's Royal Castle Restaurant" in Tarpum Bay for sharing these pictures.
